Join Pura Vida Divers on Friday, October 18th for our Underwater Carved Pumpkin Contest during our Blue Heron Bridge Night Dive. This is a FREE event!
Itinerary form the evening:
5:00pm: Check in will begin at Pura Vida Dive Shop. All divers must complete a liability release and receive a parking pass before heading over to Phil Foster Park. A special pass is required to be allowed to remain in the park after dark.
6:00pm: Participants will bring their gutted pumpkin to Phil Foster Park. They will have 1 hour to carve their pumpkins into whatever design they choose.
7:00pm: Judging will take place at 7:00pm sharp. Upon pumpkin completion, a glow stick will be placed inside. The pumpkins will then be photographed and judged. We will have 3 or 4 judges from the local community pick their favorite pumpkin. The 3 or 4 pumpkin finalists will have their picture posted on Facbeook. The community will have all weekend to “Like”/vote for their favorite pumpkin. We will announce the winner on Facebook Monday morning, October 21 at 8am. The winning pumpkin photo will become our Facebook cover for the rest of October and the pumpkin carver will win a prize.
7:30pm: Divers will don their scuba gear and enter the water with their pumpkins. Again photos will be taken of the pumpkins underwater. High tide is at 8:38pm. Our staff will be starting their dive at 7:30pm. You may join them or start your dive whenever you feel the most comfortable. However, everyone must be out of the park by 10:30pm or you WILL GET A TICKET! We received special permission to be in the park until 10:30pm on October 18th, 2013. This is a one time ONLY extension.
You do not have to be a diver to participate in the pumpkin carving contest. However, you must carve your pumpkin at Phil Foster Park between 6pm and 7pm. All participants will need to provide their own pumpkin and cylume stick for the pumpkin lighting.
Divers participating in the night dive may join the group dive, dive on your own with a buddy, or request a private guide. Each dive group must have a legal dive flag and evey diver must have a primary, back up, and tank light. Please register with Pura Vida Divers in advanced to guarantee your reservation.
