The Blue Heron Bridge is considered to be one of South Florida’s best kept secrets as well as one of it’s best dive sites. This site may lack the coral and topography of a coral reef, but don’t let that fool you. The sandy bottom of the Blue Heron Bridge provides a home to some of natures most amazing marine creatures. Everything from nudibranchs to sea stars, eels, seahorses, octopus, countless species of fish, spotted eagle rays, manatees and sometimes even sea turtles have been encountered under the Blue Heron Bridge. These creatures range in size from that of a tiny pin head all the way to 10ft in length. Although the larger creatures are easier to find, do you know how or where to look for the smaller creatures?
In honor of the creatures of the Blue Heron Bridge, Pura Vida Divers will be hosting a Social Night on September 13th, 2013 to raise awareness for this site and the amazing and unique creatures that call the Blue Heron Bridge home. This is a FREE event!
It doesn’t matter if you’re a diver, surfer or beach goer, everyone is welcome to attend. So join us for an evening of socializing, delicious food, and creatures under the Blue Heron Bridge.
Lazaro Ruda, a local dive guide and underwater photographer, will be presenting. Topics will include: How to search, locate and photograph many of these macro sized creatures, frequently observed behaviors (including reproductive habits) and the best times of the day to witness these amazing behaviors.
Our team will be providing drinks and appetizers, and guests are welcomed to bring a small covered dish of food to the Social Night. This way everyone is sure to have their favorite dish. This is not a requirement! If you are unable to bring a dish, please do not let the dish prevent you from coming.
