It has come to our attention that a large amount of trash (including plastic sheeting, cans, bottles, and plastic cups) was dumped near the small bridge at Phil Foster Park between the north boat ramp and the south dock.  Since we adopted Phil Foster Park, The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department have contacted us to put together a dive team to remove the debris.  In turn we are asking any and all divers, snorkelers, surfers, and beach goers to lend a hand on Saturday, November 15th at 1:00pm to help clean up Phil Foster Park.

All divers need to confirm participation before the day of the event and will be required to bring their diver certification card, a dive flag float, and a timing device as well as sign an Underwater Liability Release Form.  All non-divers participating in the Emergency Phil Foster Park Cleanup will be required to sign a liability release at the registration table.

To thank everyone for participating, everyone who turns in a completed data card will have their trash weighed for a chance to win a free boat pass for a 2-tank dive trip aboard Sirena, or a half day surfboard or paddle board rental.  The individual who collects the most trash (by weight) will be our winner and may choose their prize.

Itinerary for the day:

1:00pm: Meet at the picnic tables near the playground for an underwater/beach cleanup orientation. During our cleanup orientation, we will discuss habitat preservation, what trash to remove, how to remove it, what to leave behind, inspection of trash for living creatures before and after removal, what areas are out-of-bounds, etc.  We will provide cleanup materials and hand out goodie bags to those who attend while supplies last. Supplies are limited, so be sure to get there early.

2:26pm High Tide: Divers who attend the underwater/beach clean up orientation and return their collection bag filled with trash, will receive a voucher for a free air tank rental or air fill from Pura Vida Divers.

3:30pm:  Please bring your collected trash and completed data cards back to the picnic tables. Everyone who turns in a completed data card will have their trash weighed for a chance to win a free boat pass for a 2-tank dive trip aboard Sirena, or a half day surfboard or paddle board rental.  The individual who collects the most trash (by weight) will be our winner!

4:30pm:  All participants are invited back to our shop for our annual Ocean Thanksgiving Party and Feast!!  So be sure to stop by after the cleanup for some delicious food and great company.
