Do you have what it takes to complete our Master Scuba Diver Challenge this summer? Becoming a Master Scuba Diver is a way to seek out specializations and challenge yourself. Before we dive in, let’s go back to what brought us here.
Everyone has their own reasons for becoming a scuba diver. For some, it was simply a love for the ocean and marine life. Others were driven by conquering their fears or taking on a new challenge.
Regardless of our different reasons to start diving, one thing connects us. We all have the ability to grow as divers.
That’s why this summer, we are challenging YOU to do just that: keep growing as a diver. Continuing to dive, keeping your dive skills fresh, and learning new dive techniques are the most effective ways to become a better diver. The process to become a Master Scuba Diver is simple. Find out what makes a new diver cross the threshold into the Master Diver realm.
MASTER SCUBA DIVER REQUIREMENTS:
- PADI Advanced Open Water certified (or equivalent)
- PADI Rescue Diver certified (or equivalent)
- Complete 5 different PADI Specialty or TecRec certifications
- 50 or more logged dives
First things first. If you haven’t been diving much since your Open Water course, now’s the time to get back underwater!
Start with the 5 dives of your Advanced Open Water certification. Learn about deep diving, underwater navigation, and choose 3 other dives that interest you. The dives you complete in your AOW class may count toward your specialty training!
Then, build up your confidence and skills with the Rescue Diver course. Respond to dive-related emergencies in and out of the water. Better yet, learn how to recognize the signs to stop emergencies before they happen.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Once you’ve completed your PADI AOW and Rescue Diver certifications, it’s time to take the next step.
The Master Scuba Diver Challenge starts every summer over Memorial Day Weekend and runs until Labor Day.
You have until then to earn certifications in 5 different specialty areas. These could be anything from Nitrox to Wreck, Deep, Drift, Underwater Photography or even a Blue Heron Bridge Distinctive Specialty.
At least 3 of these specialties must be completed through Pura Vida Divers to complete the challenge and win the grand prize!
