WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

Frame your photos to introduce bright backgrounds that make your subjects stand out.  Highlight the striking hues of notable marine life.

Work with Photo Pro Andrea Whitaker to compose images rich in color and contrast. Create eye-catching photos.

Some subjects were born to blend in.  Learn how to craft dramatic contrasts to separate these critters from their surroundings. Make ordinary subjects extraordinary  during the Color Pop Photo Workshop.

REQUIRED GEAR

Students should have a full SCUBA kit, including dive computer. Additionally, you will need an underwater camera and lighting. Strobes are recommended. Bring along a laptop or tablet to view your images, and for minor image editing after the workshop.

Demo equipment from Backscatter Underwater Photo & Video may be available to use during your workshop.  Supplies are limited, so ask about renting demo gear when you sign up.

Color Pop Photo Workshop Prerequisites

Whether you’re an experienced photographer using a DSLR or mirrorless camera, or just starting out with a compact point-and-shoot, the Color Pop Photo Workshop can be adjusted to cater to you.

Participants must hold a PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent.  They should also have good buoyancy control.  We highly recommend the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy and PADI Advanced Open Water courses before you begin.

First, join us for a classroom session. Then, dive with Andrea at the Blue Heron Bridge. Find and photograph macro wildlife as you practice your Color Pop techniques.
