Pura Vida Divers has been the proud sponsors of Phil Foster Park for three years now! With your help, we have collected hundreds of pounds of trash and recycling from Phil Foster Park.
To celebrate our third anniversary, we will be conducting a Phil Foster Park Adpot-A-Park Cleanup on Saturday, June 25th at 9:00am. This is a FREE event! Divers, snorkelers, surfers, and beach goers are all welcome to attend.
To thank everyone for participating, everyone who turns in a completed data card will have their trash weighed and will be entered to win prizes in two different categories:
1.) The most trash collected by weight. The individual who collects the most trash (by weight) will be our winner and may choose their prize. Pura Vida Divers will be donating a FREE boat pass for a 2-tank dive trip aboard Sirena, or a half day surfboard or paddle board rental.
2.) The most collected item by number of same items collected (ie, cigarette butts, straws, plastic bottles, fishing line, ect.). The individual who collects the most of a single item will be our second winner and will receive a matted print from TheLivingSea.
Plus, all certified divers who participate in the beach cleanup will receive a FREE air fill or air tank rental for future use, when they turn in a completed data card from Pura Vida Divers (Only one voucher per diver and the diver must collect their own voucher in person).
Itinerary for the day:
8:00am: Meet at the picnic tables near the playground for registration and cleanup supplies. We will provide cleanup materials and hand out goodie bags to those who attend while supplies last. Supplies are limited, so be sure to get there early.
8:30am: The staff will conduct a beach cleanup and safety briefing. All participants must attend the briefing before beginning their cleanup. To ensure that no animals are harmed or removed from their environment, specific directions will be given as to what is permitted debris to remove from the water, and how to check if an animal is or could use a questionable item as a home. To further insure that the creatures of Phil Foster Park are not being removed, all removed debris will be thoroughly checked by staff before being discarded.
11:00am: Please bring your collected trash and completed data cards back to the picnic tables. Everyone who turns in a completed data card will have their trash weighed and reviewed for a chance to win prizes!
12:38pm High tide: After you have weighed and sorted your trash, join us for a snorkel or dive to cool off. Many divers will begin their dive between 11:30am and 12:00pm. You may join them or start your dive whenever you feel the most comfortable.
Please RSVP by Thursday, June 23rd. This will help to ensure that we have enough cleanup supplies for everyone attending.
