There are few better feelings than giving back to the ocean. Join us on Saturday, September 18th as we do just that. Grab your family and friends who love the sea. Participate in the 2021 International Coastal Cleanup!
It’s no secret that, amongst marine life, we find trash in the ocean. Whether it’s plastic bottles, fishing line, or Styrofoam cups, we’ve all run into debris while diving or walking the beach.
This September, let’s do something about it!
Make your dent against the marine debris that impacts the dive sites we love. Remove trash underwater or on the surface.
Check out the ways you can participate below. Whether it’s diving or strolling on the sand, there’s a way you can help. See which option works best for you and your crew of activists.
Guests that register in advance receive a FREE cleanup t-shirt!
PHIL FOSTER PARK LAND CLEANUP:
Make your mark surface-side! There is plenty of work to be done along the beach and in the surrounding park.
Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to patrol the park and walk the beach to remove marine debris. All that’s needed is a passion for protecting our ocean.
Check-in at Phil Foster Park at 9 AM. Hand sanitizer will be available at the check-in tent. Mesh bags, buckets, grabbers, vinyl gloves, trash bags, and recycling bags will be provided.
DON’T FORGET:
For the 2021 International Coastal Cleanup, participants should wear or bring along:
- Reef-safe sunscreen
- Hat
- Sunglasses
- Refillable water bottle
- Gardening gloves
BLUE HERON BRIDGE CLEANUP DIVE:
Help maintain one of the top shore dives in the United States. The Blue Heron Bridge is a beloved dive site by locals and tourists alike.
Check-in at 10 AM at Phil Foster State Park. Dive the East side of the Blue Heron Bridge. Remove fishing line, hooks, and other marine debris along the way.
This dive portion of the 2021 International Coastal Cleanup is coordinated and supported by the Riviera Beach Police Department, the Riviera Beach CRA, and the Riviera Beach CDC.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
The Blue Heron Bridge cleanup dive will take place at low tide. Visibility may be limited. Divers must be confident in their abilities to navigate the site. They must stay within the limits of their certification, abilities, and personal comfort.
After the cleanup, the police dept. will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs for participants to enjoy!
Need SCUBA equipment or a tank? Both are available to rent at the dive shop on a first come, first served basis.
2-TANK CHARTER REEF CLEANUP:
Save your seat aboard one of our 2-tank dive charters on Saturday, September 18th. Charters leave at 8 AM and 1:30 PM. Participants should plan to check in an hour before departure.
